But did you know Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher once shared the front row here?
Before it became Okayama International Circuit, it was called TI Circuit Aida.
For two years—1994 and 1995—it hosted Formula 1.
The 1994 Pacific Grand Prix had an incredible starting grid.
Senna took pole in his Williams.
Next to him was Michael Schumacher.
Behind them were Damon Hill, Mika Häkkinen, Gerhard Berger, and Martin Brundle.
Sadly for Senna, his race ended after just a few corners. He was hit after spinning at the start.
Schumacher dominated, winning by more than 75 seconds.
F1 returned in 1995.
Schumacher won again.
So, the circuit we casually race on in iRacing has a remarkable fact:
Michael Schumacher raced there twice in Formula 1—and won both times.
Next time you’re finding the braking point into Turn 1, remember:
Senna and Schumacher were figuring it out there over 30 years ago.
